In addition, on a quarterly basis the Chief Executive Department request monitoring information from projects being funded by the Corporate Matching Funds budget. A one page form is sent out for the projects to confirm that the approved funding is still required and the expenditure profiles are still appropriate along with an update on the current situation. This information is used to re-profile budgeted expenditure from the Corporate Matching Funds budget as appropriate. A number of groups have been created to provide a corporate overview of Cornwall County Council activity and to assist the process of approving direct Cornwall County Council support for specific projects.
A register of interests for officers sitting on these groups will be kept. The main groups are the Economy and Europe Steering Group, Economic Development and Regeneration Project Development Group and European Coordination Group. There are also supporting groups such as the Town Regeneration Group and the Strategy and Policy Group. The EESG will receive reports from the Economic Development and Regeneration Project Development Group on the recommendations the group proposes to make to members on projects and debate any policy issues which arise.
The EESG will also monitor via reports that approved projects are meeting their target outputs. The EESG will also receive reports from and steer the work of the European Co-ordination Group. Over the coming months the European Coordination Group will prepare a European Framework which will detail Cornwall County Council activity in Europe and how it will be coordinated.
The Group will consider project proposals to establish if they fit with Cornwall County Council priorities. The Group will make recommendations as to the level and nature of any Cornwall County Council support. The EDRPDG will consider recommendations made by other groups. For example on European projects the Group will seek the advice of the European Co-ordination Group, Affordable Copy Writing Services on town regeneration projects the Group will seek the advice of the County Council’s Town Regeneration Group and on sport related projects the Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Sports Board.
Recommendations will be reported to the Economy and Europe Steering Group and then taken to members for final approval, where required. ensuring Cornwall County Council is represented in Europe and that opportunities to access external funding in conjunction with external partners are maximised. The Group will have a broad remit, covering all activity undertaken by Cornwall County Council.
